iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus: Everything you need to know

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus: Everything you need to know

Introduction

Apple recently unveiled its new iPhone 15 series, sparking excitement from fans and tech experts around the world. In this article, we'll take an in-depth look at the features, improvements, and special offers available in France for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

Release date and price

Although Apple has not yet announced the on-sale date of the iPhone 15, it is expected to be available from September 15, with a launch in store on September 22. In France, the price of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus is around €100 less than last year's iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models. This is excellent news for French consumers. Design

Colors of iPhone 15

The iPhone 15 retains the look and feel of previous generations of iPhone, but it has some notable differences. Rounded edges on the front and back provide a different grip. Additionally, the back of the device features a matte finish with the color applied across the entire surface of the panel. Aluminum side rails and IP68 dust and water resistance have also been retained from the iPhone 14 models.

Screen and dynamic island

The dynamic island, which debuted on the iPhone 14 Pro, is now present on all iPhone 15 models. This gives users a few additional display pixels compared to iPhones with the same notch size, as well as the possibility of using adaptive widgets unique to the island. The screen brightness has been increased, with a maximum HDR brightness of 1,600 nits and 2,000 nits outdoors, according to Apple. This should make it easier to use the phone in direct sunlight.

USB-C

One of the main new features of the iPhone 15 is the addition of a USB-C port. The familiar Lightning connector is gone, replaced by the more universal USB-C used by iPads, Macs, and Android phones for several years. This means you'll need to replace your existing iPhone cables if you're not already using another device with USB-C.

Cameras

Apple has equipped all iPhone 15 models with a 48MP main camera. The 48MP sensor on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus is different from the one used by the Pro models. Instead of shooting at 12MP resolution with just 1x magnification like before, the new camera now offers a 24MP mode that lets you focus on details, as well as a 2x lossless zoom mode that gives you some of the benefits of 'a telephoto camera like that of the iPhone 15 Pro.

Performance

The base iPhone 15 adopted the chip from last year's Pro model: the A16 Bionic chip. This gives phones improved CPU, GPU, and machine learning performance. Apple is once again promising "all-day" battery life for the iPhone 15 series, although we're sure our custom TG battery test will reveal differences between the different models. Apple itself admitted that the iPhone 15 Plus, with its larger battery, lasts longer than the standard iPhone 15, making it the choice for users who often run out of charge.

iOS 17: What’s new

iOS 17 Details

iOS 17 is both a small and a big update. This sentence may seem strange, but the reality is that it corresponds to reality quite well. On paper, iOS 17 does not bring any major changes. However, several of its new features are likely to shake up user habits. A perfect example of this is the clock radio mode, which turns the iPhone into a clock with widgets when you sleep. We tried it a lot this summer (in beta) and we definitely adopted it.
